August Blue, Deborah Levy

.

April 2023

My adoration for Deborah Levy knows no bounds and is no secret. I wrote a fan letter to her in The i Paper to mark the publication of her eighth novel, August Blue, in May 2023, which you can read here.

It covers August Blue without being a full review. Like most of her more recent works, August Blue feels like a slip of a story you can pull on whenever you want - ie I could read it in a day or weekend, as therapy whenever required - but it will always leave a full, deep, lasting and transformative mark upon me, the sort you might think could only come from a doorstop of a book.
