I loved this debut, shortlisted for the Women’s Prize 2023, from Jacqueline Crooks. Fire Rush is a sweeping tale of sisterhood, music, love, danger, family and survival set among Caribbean immigrants in 1970s south London.

I listened to Fire Rush on Audible; as it’s so poetic it’s a book that really works in this format, and I often found myself rewinding for a second hit
